Citizen Action Requests
After we talked about Citizen Action Requests at our last meeting, member John wrote one up about the excessive speed of drivers on NW Juniper Street.
Two days later a temporary radar speed sign was placed at the problem area. How’s that for fast action? John speculates that there had been many other complaints about this street, so maybe the sign was already in the works before his CAR, but it’s still pretty cool that the city is responding to this need.
Let us know if you make use of the CAR process to address a ped/bike/bus transportation issue.

Hello Jeff,
I stumbled across your blog while researching an idea that is rapidly becoming my obsession. Although I’m not an Issaquah resident, I work in the city and for the past ten years have used bicycle and/or bus as my primary commuting modes. If you read my blog from the April 29 entry forward, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what my new obsession is, and I’m trying get as many citizens of Issaquah behind it as possible. Anyway, several of my co-workers who live in Issy are going to submit CARs to the city regarding this idea, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
I would also be interested in your thoughts regarding the idea, and whether you and your constituents might support it.

I do “citizen’s action requests” to the City all the time. I almost always get a response and action. The requests are small and reasonable and most of them stem from something I almost hit or notice while on my bike. I put in a new request to King County over the weekend concerning a dangerous grate on the 17000 block of Newport Way. Skinny tired cyclists be careful!!! I may just take some paint out myself and circle the grate and paint a warning. Haven’t heard back from the county yet. I’ll let you know if I do.
